The process
Ideate it
This is a small backyard of less than 1000 square feet and is triangular in shape. The client hopes to activate the use of the backyard without heavy maintenance work.
How could we design it to feel spacious and fun?
Our answer is to curve the path and make every turn enjoyable.
Design it.
As we moved forward, the client's Colorado Rocky experience inspired us, and their kids love jumping on stepping stones.
As a result, we picked Rocky Mountain Stone to pave the path so that when people walk on it, they always watch the steps and, interestingly, have to choose their route.
In the meantime, we've designed several clusters of plants with different functions (including ornamental or edible uses throughout seasons)
Build it.
We hauled dirt away and prepared the base. Then, we picked the best stones at the landscape material store and laid them on the new gravel base.
The most challenging thing is to lock them on the floor and make sure they are flushed to each other
